You Never Know...

You never know who might show up at LIFE Groups. Shout out to Julie Gregory, our College Community LIFE group leader, for sending me this pic from their study last week. The Clemson Tiger Cub! I love hearing the stories of changed lives and about people who are experiencing authentic Christian community for the first time. Our Community LIFE Groups have been going through a study that promotes community and challenges us to experience the life God wants for us, together. Thanks Julie for your enthusiasm for LIFE Groups and the Tigers.

On a side note, Tiger Cub if your out there and you read my blog, it's great having you be a part of Foothills Community Church. Keep those Tigers fired up.

This weather is stinking awesome. I have thought several times about moving my office space outside, but didn't. It is interesting working in the church office these days. Some people love the cold mornings and cool afternoons, yet some do not. Some are cold natured, some are hot natured. Some have the heat on in office and some have the ac on. I love the colder weather, so I have my door to the outside opened. You walk down the hallway and it's like walking through several weather fronts. We are all different. I am totally confusing, my perfect scenario would be both. Have all my windows and doors open while I sit in front of a flaming fire place in my favorite sweat-shirt sipping coffee.

One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 19:11. I have to confess that I have not mastered this principal, but it is always on my mind. It is one of those verses that can literally and immediately change your life. Relationships are vital to healthy living. Protecting relational integrity is hard work, but it pays off. If your wondering about how to mend, protect, or preserve an existing relationship and somebody immediately comes to mind. Memorize Proverbs 19:11. We are all different. We are wired up uniquely yet all in the image of God. Of course people offend us. It happens. The person your closest with and have the greatest amount of familiarity will probably test your relationship more than anyone else. Put Proverbs 19:11 into practice and you will never go wrong. Ok, here it is:

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger,
And his glory is to overlook a transgression (of one another) NKJV

10 Catches

It's great to be back on track with the blog world. If there's any way possible to be too busy or for life to be too crazy to blog, I may have found it. Here are 10 things to catch you up on my world.

1. Visited our new Singles LIFE Group. A highlight of my time here at FCC has been to see some great people begin to experience community at the level God intended. Sprouts of meaningful relationships developing and spiritual growth are already seen. Thanks to Karen for stepping up.

2. Tough day last Sunday afternoon. Andrew had 4 seizures. Thank God we were there to help him. Doing fine now.

3. My dad came up for over a week to help us with our house. Thanks Dad!

4. Jeannie and I are leading one of my favorite environments called Starting Point. I get so jacked-up when I hear how God is bringing people to himself through the ministry of Foothills Community Church! Thanks for humongous support, Jeannie!

5. We spent last week dealing with the loss of a father and grandpa. My wife lost her dad and has been so strong in this experience. It has been a journey for her and our family; the grace of God remains sufficient.

6. The transmission went out on my truck. I hate spending money on things I can't see or enjoy. I realized that I have major denial when I think something may be wrong with my vehicle. I was determined that at any moment some electrical sensor would kick-in when I hit a bump and everything would be back online. Nope! Thanks for fixing truck, John.

7. Need Greg's words found here today. Thanks for leadership, Greg.

8. Got to catch up with my brother yesterday, playing golf in Atlanta. He is planting a church in Alliance, TX, with Joel Engle. You can check it out here. Thanks, Ben, for your obedience in God's call in your life.

9. Attended the launch of our new Toccoa campus. It is so exciting to see the continuing spread of the "great news" through the vision of Foothills. Thanks, Shannon for your sacrifice.

10. Leaving for Catalyst Conference tomorrow with our pastoral staff. I think we are going to try and pile into one car to save gas. I'll try and get a picture.
